That's why you could see seriously burnin' music without reservations or too much wait. With all the drummers in LA, all the music schools, colleges, high schools and 30 people show up to see some of the hottest players? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Let me rephrase that. A good cover band will outsell DWB in most cities. A semi OK cover band can out sell PlanetX. A piece of crap open mike night can do better than CAB in VA with Virgil, Tony MAc, Bunny, and Weck's keyboardist. They only got 15 people in the door of a 600-800 capacity club.
The problem with instrumental music is no singer. Normal people--not musicians-- must have a singer to focus on. And I've said before, if PlanetX got a hardcore singer, they would do much better. But that would be a problem, as a singer would cover all the sacred notes being played. And the notes are cheap considering so many are played in a night.
Of course, I plan on seeing Virg with Freakhouse if they actually play here. And since no one knows who they are on the east coast, I imagine the turnout would be dismal. Unless they are touring with another act who will bring the crowd.

But then again, when I saw Weck on his Heads Up Clinic in MD. It was 400 people and sold out.
    So WTF...
